Remote Python contracts are UK day-rate roles, doing data platforms, APIs, automation and the machine-learning services around them, that do not tie you to an office. They are a subset of the national Python market, and they are competed for accordingly.

Remote Python work
A remote Python contract still has a client, a day rate and an IR35 status. The difference is that the advert does not name a desk. Banks, product companies, consultancies and the public-sector programmes that still build their own software all hire this way some of the time. Day rates
Advertised Python day rates commonly sit between £450 and £750. That is the headline number, before tax, umbrella margin or the costs of a limited company. Remote rates track the national band and sometimes the client's London band, because they are hiring from the whole country. The rate on a specific advert is on the board when the recruiter published one. Where they wrote "competitive" instead, the role is harder to compare and usually not in a hurry to tell you.

IR35
Outside IR35 is common on Python delivery contracts, particularly where you use your own equipment, control your own method and can send a substitute. Staff-augmentation inside a bank or a government department is still frequently marked inside, sometimes as a blanket decision. Read the status on the advert and then read the working practices, because the two do not always agree.

How to get the role
