Interim Financial Controller

• Contract: Interim / Fixed-Term
• Salary: £500-£550/day (Umbrella Co)

Join a leading professional services consultancy in a pivotal role as an Interim Financial Controller. This hands-on leadership position is perfect for a qualified accountant who thrives in managing financial control, reporting, process improvement, and team leadership within a dynamic commercial environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Lead the month-end close process and produce monthly management accounts.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, revenue recognition, accruals, and prepayments.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Oversee invoicing, work-in-progress reviews, and project finance controls.
• Monitor cash flow, supplier payments, and credit control activities.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, payroll, pension, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Support audit processes and maintain strong internal controls.
• Drive finance system enhancements and continuous process improvements.
• Manage and develop a small finance team while partnering with operational stakeholders across the business.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Previous experience in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager position.
• Strong financial reporting and month-end management experience.
• Experience within professional services, consultancy, or project-based organisations.
• A proven track record of improving processes and financial controls.
• Experience managing or mentoring finance team members.
• Advanced Excel and financial systems skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Desirable: Experience with ERP systems,
• Exposure to employee-owned, consultancies or professional services businesses.
